Our story

R.A. Auto Engineering Works was established in Kolkata in 1989 as a spares manufacturer for medium and heavy commercial vehicles, starting with chassis parts supplied to workshops and fleet operators across eastern India.

As the range and the customer base grew, the works added commercial vehicle body show parts and, later, specialist items for Indian Railways — work that demanded documented processes and repeatable quality on safety-critical components.

RA Machine is the most recent step in that progression: the assembly and supply of customised CNC machines — laser cutting, plasma cutting and welding systems — built on the same shop floor discipline that the components business was built on.

Machines are specified around the job in front of them rather than sold from a fixed catalogue: bed size, source power, automation and fixturing are configured for the parts you actually cut or weld.

Assembly, wiring, gas lines and safety interlocks are checked against a documented build sheet, and every machine is test cut and calibrated before it leaves the works.

The same engineers who assemble and commission a machine handle its service calls, so a fault is diagnosed by people who know how that specific machine was built.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When was RA Machine established and where are your machines made?

R.A. Auto Engineering Works was established in 1989 and began building CNC machines in 2008. Every RA Machine cutting and welding machine is designed, fabricated and assembled at our works in Kolkata, West Bengal. Building in India keeps our engineering, service and spares teams close to the machines we build, rather than depending on an overseas supply chain for support.

How is RA Machine related to RA Auto?

RA Machine and RA Auto are sister businesses under RA Group. RA Machine builds CNC laser and plasma cutting machines, welding machines and robotic welding systems, while RA Auto is the Group's automotive division. The two operate independently in their respective markets but share the same ownership, engineering culture and commitment to Indian manufacturing.

What certifications and registrations does RA Machine hold?

R.A. Auto Engineering Works, the company behind RA Machine, is GST registered, holds an Import Export Code (IEC) from the DGFT, and has supplied Indian Railways since 2022 as a preferred vendor for certain safety-critical items. For export orders, we confirm the conformity marking and documentation your market requires at the quotation stage, before production begins. See our certifications page for details.

Do you manufacture machines in-house or resell imported units?

We design, fabricate and assemble our machines in-house at our Kolkata facility rather than reselling imported units under our own name. This gives us direct control over build quality, component sourcing and after-sales support, and means our engineers understand every machine they service because they were built by the same team.
