One call reaches remote diagnostics, spares dispatch and an engineer from our Kolkata service desk, for every laser, plasma and welding machine we build.

On-site response:48 hours
Remote response:4 working hours
Covers:RA Machine equipment

RA Machine is the CNC machine division of R.A. Auto Engineering Works, an engineering company in Kolkata, India, founded in 1989 and building machines since 2008. We make CNC laser and plasma cutting machines, MIG, TIG, MMA and submerged arc welding machines, and cobot and robotic welding systems, and supply them across India and abroad. We are GST registered, hold an Import Export Code for export, and have supplied Indian Railways since 2022 as a preferred vendor for certain safety-critical items. Our service engineers repair and maintain the cutting and welding machines we build, pan-India, from our Kolkata workshop. More about RA Machine

Process

How it works

RA Machine's repair and maintenance service is for the machines we build: our CNC laser and plasma cutting machines, MIG, TIG, MMA and submerged arc welding machines, and cobot and robotic welding systems. Every engagement starts with a clear diagnosis and a written estimate before work begins.

We dispatch a service engineer from Kolkata carrying the tools, test equipment and commonly needed spares for the machine type reported, and provide a written service report after every visit. The same engineers who build and install RA Machine equipment also carry out repairs, so they already know every machine they service.

Faults involving the controller, servo drives, nesting software or electrical wiring can often be diagnosed over a phone or video call, sometimes resolving the issue on that first call or telling you exactly which part to have ready before an engineer is dispatched.

Fast-moving parts for our machines — protective lenses, nozzles and ceramic rings, plasma and welding torch consumables, drive belts, bearings, ballscrews, filters and chiller components — are stocked for quick dispatch anywhere in India, and shipped by air courier for export machines.

Remote diagnostic contact within 4 working hours. On site, we aim for the next working day in Kolkata and the surrounding districts and within 48 hours elsewhere in India; visits outside India are subject to visa and travel arrangements.

  1. 1

    Call or WhatsApp

Report the machine, fault and city to our Kolkata service desk.

  2. 2

    Remote diagnosis

Our team reviews logs and error codes over phone or video first.

  3. 3

    Engineer dispatch

If needed, an engineer travels with tools, spares and test gear.

  4. 4

    Repair

Fault is corrected on site, with parts replaced to specification.

  5. 5

    Test

Machine is run on test material to confirm the fix holds under load.

  6. 6

    Report

A written service report covers findings, work done and next steps.

Diagnostics

Common faults

Laser source

A gradual drop in cutting power or inconsistent piercing usually points to source wear or a cooling fault upstream. We check output power and cooling parameters, then recalibrate or replace the affected module.

Chiller

Temperature instability shows up as inconsistent cut quality or thermal shutdown, often from low coolant, a blocked filter or a failing pump. We service the circuit and check chiller capacity still matches the duty cycle.

Cutting head

Height-sensing errors or collision alarms are usually traced to a contaminated sensor, damaged window or worn cabling. We clean, recalibrate or replace the component and re-verify accuracy across the full sheet.

Nozzle and lens

Poor edge quality or dross build-up often comes down to a worn nozzle or a contaminated, cracked lens degrading beam quality. We replace consumables to specification and confirm cut quality on test material.

Servo and drive

Positioning drift, axis alarms or unusual motor noise typically originate in a servo drive, encoder or coupling fault. We isolate the axis, test signals, repair the component and re-run accuracy checks under load.

Controller

Software freezes or an unresponsive HMI usually point to a controller fault, corrupted parameters or a firmware issue rather than a mechanical problem. We restore known-good firmware or replace hardware when needed.

Gas system

Inconsistent gas pressure or contaminated assist gas causes dross, discolouration or incomplete piercing, usually from a regulator fault or line leak. We pressure-test the circuit and confirm delivered purity at the head.

Plasma torch

Bevelled or rough cuts, arc-start failures and short consumable life usually trace back to worn electrodes and nozzles, a gas pressure fault or torch-height drift. We replace consumables, check gas delivery and re-tune torch height control.

Welding power source and wire feed

Erratic arcs, porosity or wire stubbing on MIG, TIG and SAW machines often come from a slipping wire feeder, a worn liner or contact tip, or a power-source fault. We test output, service the feed path and confirm weld quality on a test joint.

Bed and rail alignment

Years of heavy production can cause bed sag or rail misalignment that drifts parts out of tolerance without triggering alarms. We survey level and parallelism, re-align as needed, and re-verify accuracy across the bed.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about machine repair

Which machines do you repair?

We repair and maintain the machines we build: RA Machine CNC fiber laser and plasma cutting machines, MIG, TIG and MMA welding machines, submerged arc welding machines, and cobot and robotic welding systems. We do not service other manufacturers' machines. Because our engineers build and install the same equipment they repair, they know every part of it.

Do you service RA Machine equipment that is out of warranty?

Yes for RA Machine equipment: we service our machines throughout their working life, in or out of warranty. Out-of-warranty work is diagnosed first and quoted transparently before we start. We do not take on repairs of machines made by other manufacturers, as we cannot stand behind parts and settings we did not design.

What is your on-site response time for a breakdown?

Our standard commitment is an on-site engineer dispatch within 48 hours for metro and major industrial cities, with remote diagnostic support typically available within a few working hours of your call. Exact response time depends on your location and the nature of the fault; our service desk confirms a firm timeline as soon as you report the issue.

Do you offer remote diagnostics before sending an engineer?

Yes. For controller, software, servo-drive and many electrical faults, our engineers can often diagnose the problem over a call or video session and either resolve it remotely or advise exactly which spare part and tool to have ready, which shortens the eventual on-site visit and gets your machine back into production faster.

Do you offer annual maintenance contracts (AMC)?

We do not offer annual maintenance contracts at present. Maintenance is booked when you need it, and operator training covers the routine daily and weekly checks that keep a machine running well.

What are the most common faults you fix?

On laser machines: loss of source power, chiller temperature instability, cutting-head height-sensing errors and worn nozzles or contaminated lenses. On plasma machines: worn torch consumables and gas or arc-start problems. On welding machines: wire-feed and torch faults. Across all of them: servo or drive faults, controller and software glitches, and alignment drift after heavy use.

Do you keep spares in stock?

Yes. Commonly replaced consumables and wear parts for our machines, such as protective lenses, nozzles and ceramic rings, plasma torch consumables, welding torch parts, bearings, filters and chiller components, are stocked for fast dispatch anywhere in India and by air courier abroad. Less common parts are sourced and dispatched as quickly as our suppliers allow.

Do you also repair RA Machine cobot and robotic welding cells?

Yes, for RA Machine systems. Our engineers service the robot or cobot, its controller, the welding power source, wire feed system and fixtures, and can re-teach or adjust weld programs when your parts change. Describe the fault in the booking form, or call our service desk, and we will confirm the next step.

How do I book a repair visit?

Use the Book a Repair form on this page with your company name, phone number, the machine type and its serial number, your city and a description of the problem, or call or WhatsApp our service desk directly. We will confirm whether the issue can be resolved remotely or needs an on-site visit, and schedule the earliest available engineer.

Is there a warranty on the repair work you carry out?

Yes, repair work and any parts we fit carry a workmanship warranty, with the exact period depending on the nature of the repair and whether original or compatible spares were used; this is confirmed in writing on your repair invoice. If the same fault recurs within that period, we return to resolve it at no additional labour charge.
